Urinary Tract Infection

Overview

When bacteria travel to the bladder from urine, urinary tract infection takes place. Urine is formed in kidneys and travels from uterus to bladder. Further, bladder stores the urine till it is passed out via urethra. Opening of the urethra is penis in male bodies and vagina in female bodies. Generally, there is no bacteria in urine and the same is prevented as well due to one-way flow. However, the bacteria may get up in urine from urethra and then travel to the bladder. In Urinary tract infection, urethra as well as the lining of the bladder becomes red and causes irritation. This can lead to pain in stomach and pelvic area as well. Excessive urination is another symptom that you notice in UTI. Urinary tract infection can cause bad effects on the body if not diagnosed and treated on time. Otherwise, there are minimal to no lasting effects if treated properly. Symptoms: Pain, fever, urinary symptoms Treatment: The doctor has to treat the cause by identification of the infection. Simple and complicated urinary tract infection are to be identified first. Department – Urology Related Conditions: Diabetes and Poor immune status aggravates it.
